Simplified Decision-Making

I read an article called "The Desicion Tree," by Thomas Goetz, in Wired Magazine for you. I always find it fascinating how people are paid to tell you all what you know. All you need is for them to say it to you in a manner to convince you to believe their bullshit --not that this article was false, it was just something you shouldn't have to be told. To be honest, I didn't read the article because the charts were enough to get the point across. Basically, if you want to get where you want to go, you've got to act accordingly. Goetzs writes that "health is a variable and not a constant" -that the decisions you make today will affect your health tomorrow. I argue that EVERY decision you make today will affect your EVERY tomorrow. We don't care though, we all seem to live in the moment and in this moment only.  Is it because that's really all that matters or is it really because you don't have  faith in what the future holds? We fight ourselves and allow excuses. You know exactly what actions got you to the point you're at today. Good or bad. Whether you meant them or not. Regret them or not.

Goetz breaks his decisions tree into four parts: input, process, decision & end result. (See pics below.) While he only applied his guidance to health, I'm sure we can take it a bit further. The "input" is anything. Everything. It's life. Everything is a decision. Every morning you begin by deciding to get out of bed. You know what you're doing. People who are in the positions they're on want to be there. Subconsciously or not. We mean what we say and do-- especially when we don't mean it. It's time we take responsibility for our actions. If you don't want cancer, don't smoke cigarettes. If you want to be thin, eat healthy. You can't control everything in life, but you can work with most of it if you work quickly enough.

You've got to get ahead of the curb. You have to anticipate the outcome of your actions. Newton proved it, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. It's how nerds understand Karma. You are no exception to this world. None of us are. If it's a problem now, it'll be a problem later. This goes for your health, your job, your friends, your social life, your sex life... everything. Why wait? Get rid of the issue sooner rather than later.

I'll keep
Reading between the lines for ya ;)
